Brief history of the school

St Joseph the Worker International Secondary School Enekwasumpu was founded by Rev. Fr Victor Ezeanya, with Rev. Fr Comrade Ukozor as the pioneer manager. With eleven teachers and two hundred and sixty (260) student. It was neither founded to increase the number of existing schools nor for the parish to acquire a means of generating funds, but to be a game changer. To bring sanity to the education industry and entire society. To enable revolutionise education and to give our students the best possible education available. With our quality assurance indices to attract, sustain and transform out students to take possessions of future as leaders of tomorrow and not slaves of their generations.

The school has increased from strength to strength. The population of student presently is five hundred and four students (504) with 30 tutorial and three non-tutorial staff. We got government approval on 17th September 2017 by the pioneer principal Lady Nedolisa Juliana. The academic excellence of the students was proved at the first basic education certificate examination (BECE) held on 2018 and 2019 respectively. No student failed. To GOD be the glory. Three of our students won one bronze and two silver for their outstanding performance at the Thailand mathematics competition held at 2018. Also, four of our students qualified for the final round of the Archbishop Valerian Okeke Science Competition (AVOSCO). A platform organised by the Archbishop of Onitsha to improve the standard of education by awarding the best students, out of many students that participated for the AVOSCO exam, students of St Joseph the workers int’l secondary school Enekwasumpu took the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions for the junior category at the regional level, which qualified us for the final archdiocese level. Kudos to great St Joseph students.

The management and the teachers are working tirelessly to see that the objectives of extra-curricular activities are achieved. The extracurricular activities are geared towards harnessing the talents and potentials of the students both the teachers and students belong to one club or the other in the school. Like debate& dramatic club, press club, jet club, Igbo cultural club, music club etc.

Students are exposed to various competitions within and outside the country. We lead others follow. Students of St Joseph the worker international school took 1st in match past competition held at idemili north head quarter in commeration of children’s day celebration 2019. The school has set up skill acquisition department for creative & innovative learning. This is to mould and sharpen future entrepreneurs and vendors of different skills. Students have embarked on several excursions for sightseeing and relaxation. We uphold Igbo cultural carnival yearly to maintain and build our cultural heritage. We set the pace. Effort is made by the school management to see that the moral life of students is improved by celebrating holy mass regularly and organising retreat for students at the end of the term.
